Sildenafil (Viagra) and Tadalafil (Cialis): PDE5 inhibitors for blood flow
Taking tadalafil and sildenafil together is not recommended.
1. Medical reasons
-both drugs are type 5 phosphodiesterase inhibitors (PDE-5) and have the same main action mechanism, which is to increase blood flow to the penis to facilitate erection. Taking them in combination increases the risk of serious side effects.
-Common side effects of these drugs individually include headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, decreased blood pressure and, in combination, these effects can be more intense and potentially dangerous.
-there is also a higher risk of hypotension (low blood pressure), which can cause dizziness, fainting and, in extreme cases, organ damage due to excessive decrease in systemic blood pressure.
If a patient does not respond adequately to a single drug, he or she should consult a specialist physician (for example, a urologist or a sexual health doctor) to evaluate other appropriate and safe therapeutic options, rather than self-administering the combination of these two drugs.
