What is Tadalafil 40 mg used for?
Tadalafil at 40 mg is used primarily for the following purposes:
1. Treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED)
-improves blood circulation in the penis, allowing a man to have and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity. It works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5), which increases the concentration of cyclic monophosphate guanosin (cGMP) in the cavernous tissue of the penis. The cGMP relaxes the smooth muscles of the penis, allowing greater blood flow to this organ.
2. Treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (HTAP)
-in some cases, at higher doses and on a specific administration regimen, tadalafil may be used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. It helps relax vascular muscles in the lungs, improving blood pressure in the pulmonary vessels and, consequently, cardiopulmonary function.
However, it is important to bear in mind that the administration of tadalafil should be supervised by a doctor. It has possible side effects, and there are contraindications, such as combination with certain medicines that can cause dangerous interactions, such as organic nitrates, as the combination can cause a drastic drop in blood pressure.
